What To Expect
1. Reaching out for Help
You’ll need a referral to see us. You can get a referral from your GP.
We also accept referrals from Open Arms, Work Cover and the Department of Veteran Affairs.
Once we get your referral, we will call you to book an appointment.
2. Before your Appointment
You will be sent an online form to fill in before your first appointment.
Please come early to the first appointment as you will need to complete some forms before your appointment.
Ensure you have your medicare card (if you are referred by your GP) and preferred payment method for your appointment
3. Getting to Know You
You will be given an opportunity to ask questions at your first appointment.
At the intake appointment, your psychologist will ask you lots of questions to find out what is going on and formulate a treatment plan.
4. Setting Goals
By the end of that first appointment, we’ll have agreed together on your initial goals.
It is important to remember that you are the best person to know what feels right for you and if the treatment sounds like a good fit.
5. Getting Started
At the next appointment, we will start working on those goals. Sessions are typically 50-minute sessions.
This will involve talking about how things are going and whether any issues cropped up between appointments.
Your psychologist will teach you skills and support you to achieve your goals.
6. Support
The focus of ongoing sessions will help you to recognise and build on your strengths.
Your psychologist will guide you to learn new skills and re-evaluate your goals.
